Yay! It’s Your Birthday! – MFT 2019 Card Design Superstar: Innovation Master

Hello all my crafty friends,

Time flies! I still remember that I joined the MFT Superstar card contest last year. I made my couple entries with not sure what I was going to expect until I won one of categories.  It was like a dream! Now I am back to be one of participators to have fun with playing all the products that I love.

I’ve been wanting to make more birthday cards because I always run out of them (I guess my daughter has too many friends LOL). I pulled out My favorite things Happy Hippos Stamp set and Birthday Chicks Stamp set  to work with. I would like to create a scene. Birdies are having a birthday blast and their Hippo friends are invited to their house for the party. My card would break down to two parts, one is out of the house and another is inside of house.

To make the scene for outside the house, I die cut a piece of white cardstock with Boutique Die-namics and inked with Tim Holtz Distress oxide ink in Tea Dye and Tattered rose. I assembled all inked pieces to create the house front. I added a piece of acetate paper behind the window cut out to create the glass window.

To build the background, I ink blended a piece of A2 sized watercolor paper using Tim Holtz Distress oxide ink in Tumbled glass and Salty Ocean for the sky, Crushed Olive and Cracked Pistachio for the ground. Then I splattered the coordinating ink over the background to make it more interesting. I used craft blade to cut out a rectangle opening  on the background which matches the “house window”, then I attached the assembled house over it with liquid glue.

I stamped images form Happy Hippos Stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto 80lbs Neenah Solar white card stock paper and hand fussy cut with craft scissors (It would save you more time if you use the coordinating dies). I colored the images with copic markers and arranged them onto the background with Foam tapes and liquid adhesive. I used action wobbler underneath one of Hippos so he looks like dancing when you flick with your fingers. Interactive card is always fun to make.

Now we move to build the scene for inside of house. I  ink blended a piece of A2 sized watercolor paper using Tim Holtz Distress oxide ink in Tattered Rose, Worn lipstick and Picked Raspberry to create the background color. Then I stamped images form Birthday Chicks Stamp set and hand fussy cut with craft scissors (It would save you more time if you use the coordinating dies). I colored the images with copic markers and arranged them onto the background with Foam tapes and liquid adhesive. At last, I stamped the sentiment that is from the same stamp set.

I want to thank My Favorite Things Stamp Company for hosting such a great opportunity for us to communicate with each other and inspire our undiscovered potential. I truly had fun creating this card and I hope you all like it!
